Learn to Climb (Two Day Basics)

Learn to Climb (Two Day Basics)

OUTLINE

This course would be a natural progression from either our Learn to Climb (One Day Taster) or our Indoors to Outdoors course or as a standalone programme. By the end of this course we would expect you to be more confident and in a position to start becoming an independent climber, having a greater understanding of the best methods and techniques for traditional rock climbing and a greater awareness of the risks involved. This would include lead belaying, placement and extraction for leader placed protection, construction of belays and choice of most appropriate anchors as well as the setting up of ‘bottom rope’ systems using correct equipment.
Personal skills would also be coached and we would spend some time looking as ‘racking’, movement on natural rock and personal abseiling for retrieval of stuck protection. We may even spend a little bit of time looking at ways to avoid ‘problems’ but also simple solutions to unavoidable problems.
