Trusted Provider of Adventure

ROXCOOL is a professional instructional business based in and around the North East of England but we are often found working in North Yorkshire, The Peak District, Scotland and our favourite place in the whole world The Lake District. We specialise in climbing and mountaineering courses but also offer opportunities for adventures through guided and fun activities using our team of professionals.

We were established in January 2009 and since then the company has not only survived but has prospered. We are very proud of the fact that we are the only Mountain Training course provider in the North East of England, offering all of their climbing instructor and walking leadership courses. We pride ourselves on giving satisfaction and so far all our feedback on both Facebook and TripAdvisor has been 5 * and positive.

We also offer technical self-improvement courses relating to safe systems used in climbing and mountaineering situations. So whether its learning to set up simple belay systems or the rudiments of navigation we have a course for you.
Our guiding service is very popular for those with specific goals in mind, so you can enjoy and access some of the classic walks, climbs and scrambles of The Lake District and other mountainous areas of the UK or just have a grand day out.

Our work with both local and national charities has gone from strength to strength over the past few years and makes up a high proportion of our annual delivery. We specialise in tailor made events and have become somewhat experts in abseiling from unusual buildings (just click on our ‘Charity Events’ tab above). Our charity walks are a great way to encourage lots of participants and a great way to raise money for a chosen charity close to your heart.

Finally, we wanted to tell you about our Spanish Adventures and retreats based in Southern Spain.  These adventures definitely fit with our company strap line 'for adventures of a lifetime'.  Although we have had a connection and a place set aside in our heart with a little village called Murtas for over fifteen years, we have only recently,  started to offer adventures there.  These adventures are as far removed from life on the costa's as they could be and so far everyone who has visited has fallen in love with the areas we have taken them to.  So if you are after some guaranteed sun, warm hospitality, a new cultural experience and possibly a little vino away from the tourists, we think we have the perfect experience for you.

If you are involved or want to be involved in any hill walking, mountaineering, climbing or adventure based activity we hope we have a course for you, but just in case we have missed something please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a ‘tailor made’ programme that meets your needs.

Thanks

SECURE PAYMENTS

Here at Roxcool we want our customers to have a smooth and hassle free process in booking onto any of our courses and programmes. We therefore, offer a secure on-line booking service through our merchant account (Lloyds Bank) and our payment gateway partner Secure Trading. Over the past ten years we have not had one issue or problem. Of course that is not the only way to pay, and should you need to, we can supply you with our bank account details for an easy BACS transfer. As well as this you can pay via PayPal and if you live local we also accept cash. We do not however, accept cheques any more (so yesterday).

INSURANCE

Insurance and peace of mind are how our modern day society operate at the moment. Roxcool is insured through LOCKTON COMPANIES LLP for third party liability and negligence on behalf of its instructor…the Certificate states: “Cover is provided for all activities within the remit of the Mountain Training qualification(s) held and declared as specified in the Policy Schedule”.

Our insurance does not cover participants for personal accidents. We strongly recommend that individuals take this out themselves.

COMMUNICATIONS WITH OUR CUSTOMERS

We like to think we are a friendly and proactive company and as such usually have great relations with our customers and clients. This commonly comes from good communications. We try where possible to get back to any general enquiries made as soon as we can (within two working days). However, sometimes we are out on the hill or rock, working and usually away from access to our emails and use of Wi-Fi (we don’t have an administrator or secretary). Please bear with us if we do not answer your enquiry immediately. We are happy for our customers to contact us in any way they like, either by telephone (mobile), email, Messenger, Instagram or any other social media they use. And if you are not technically minded the Royal Mail visits us too.

AALA

The Adventure Activities Licencing Authority is one of the only legal requirements within the outdoor industry and operates under the Health and Safety Executive. Any commercial operator working with under 18 year olds is required to hold one. These are issued through the Adventure Activities Licencing Service and usually last from two to three years. Stringent compliance is required to be given a licence and if you book with someone holding an AALA licence you can rest assured they are meeting all of the requirements to operate at a high level. Roxcool has held their licence since 2009 showing the quality of our company and our operating procedures. Our licence number is L12317 and can be found by clicking on this link here:

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP AND CPD

The instructional staff working for Roxcool are all members of a professional association such as Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI), British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML) or Mountain Training Association (MTA) (You will see us displaying the logos of these Associations throughout the website) and as such have to conform to regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD). This usually comes in the form of attendance at workshops or progressive courses and new qualifications and helps to ensure the staff are ‘current’ in relation to what is happening within the outdoor adventure industry.
